ACS Growing, Gaining Momentum
By: Gregory P. Polansky, S'74, TPR'76President, Andrew Carnegie Society
Thanks to supporters like you, the Andrew Carnegie Society is gaining momentum, expanding its membership and continuing to create a positive impact on CMU students and faculty.
As I had some time recently to reflect back on the 2011 fiscal year (July 1-June 30), I thought it might be interesting to provide a quick snapshot of our impact and membership.
With more than 2,500 members during the 2011 fiscal year, we established 26 new ACS Legacy Scholarships, the most ever for a single year. And, your generous support provided nearly $26 million that will benefit CMU students and faculty.
ACS has grown by 42% in the last five years. While it's no surprise that alumni continue to make up the largest number of our members (64%), more and more parents and CMU faculty and staff have joined ACS since 2006. In fact, faculty and staff members have nearly doubled, and parents have grown by 125%.
ACS has also experienced an influx of younger alumni recently. Over the last five years, alumni membership from the years 1980-1999 has increased by 60%, while the number of alumni members from the 2000s has nearly quadrupled.
So what does this all mean? ACS is a thriving community of whole-hearted CMU supporters who continue to make a real difference with their giving. That's a lot to be proud of.
We are continuing to touch the lives of the CMU community in a meaningful way. Let's keep it going!
