Manage Your Blackboard Course Quota Usage

Course Quota Allowance:

How to Manage your Blackboard course Quota Usage:

    To decrease the size of a Blackboard course:

  • Remove duplicate, outdated, or unnecessary course materials/files stored in Content Areas and unnecessary student submissions/files stored in the Digital Dropbox and Grade Center.
  • Clear the Grade Center history.
  • Compress and replace large image, audio, and video files.

  • If after taking these measures the size of your course is not significantly reduced, please send contact Blackboard Support to discuss options for increasing your course quota.

    If your needs extend beyond what Blackboard Support is able to provide, you can contact Computing Services Network Media Group which provides a number of options for file hosting.

Removing files from the Digital Dropbox:

    Control Panel > Digital Dropbox
    From within a course, click on the "Control Panel". From within the Control Panel click on the Digital Dropbox
    each dropbox file has a "remove" button to the right of it. Clicking the "remove" button will delete the item from the dropbox.

  • Download and save any necessary files from the Digital Dropbox.
  • Click the “Remove” button next to each item to delete each file.
  • Click “OK” to confirm that you wish to permanently remove the item.
  • NOTE: Blackboard does not provide a way to remove all of the Digital Dropbox files at once.

Removing files from the Grade Center:

    Control Panel > Grade Center
    From within a Blackboard course click on the Control Panel and then click on Grade Center
    From within the Blackboard course Grade Cemter click the down arrow of the grade item column

    Select "Assignment File Cleanup from a grade column's dropdown menu

  • Download and save any necessary student submission files from the Grade Center.
  • Click on the arrow to expand the dropdown menu of a grade column.
  • Select “Assignment File Cleanup” from the dropdown menu.
  • Check the box for each item you wish to delete.
  • Click the "Delete" button.
  • Select "OK" to confirm that you wish to delete the selected files.
  • Assignment Cleanup - check the box next to items you wish to delete
    NOTE: Blackboard provides several selection options for deleting batches of files (e.g. Select All, Select Graded, etc.)

How to download student submissions / assignment files:

    Control Panel > Grade Center
    From within a Blackboard course click on the Control Panel and then click on Grade Center
    From within the Blackboard course Grade Cemter click the down arrow of the grade item column

    Select "Assignment File Cleanup from a grade column's dropdown menu

  • Click on the arrow to expand the dropdown menu of a grade column.
  • Select “Assignment File Download” from the dropdown menu.
  • Check the box for each item you wish to download.
  • NOTE: Blackboard provides several selection options for deleting batches of files (e.g. Select All, Select Graded, etc.)

  • Click "Submit".

  • Assignment Cleanup - check the box next to items you wish to delete

  • Blackboard will package and create a file containing the assignments you've selected to download.
  • Click the "Download assignments now" link to download the package to your computer.

How to clear the Grade Center History:

    Control Panel > Grade Center

  • Click “Grade History” from the Grade Center tool bar.
  • Click “Clear All Grade History” from the tool bar.
  • Select "OK" to confirm that you wish to delete the selected files.
