Assignments:

Adding Assignments:

  1. Navigate to a “Content Area” from either:
    • the "Control Panel" > "Content Areas",
      -- OR --
    • from within a Content Area with the "Edit View" link selected.
  2. Find the drop-down menu from the "Add" content type at the upper right of the page.
  3. Select "Assignment" from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click "Go".

1. Name assignment and enter points possible:

  • Enter a name for the assignment.
  • Enter points possible.
  • Enter instructions for the assignment.
  • If desired, select a color for the assignment name.

2. Select assignment availability options:

  • Make the assignment visible.
  • Track the number of views.
  • Select availability dates.

3. Attach files to the assignment (if desired):

  • Click “Browse”.
  • Locate and select the file on your local machine.
  • Entering the name of the link to the file.

4. Select "Submit".

  • The assignment will now be automatically added to the Gradebook.

 

View & Grade Assignments:

    1. From the Control Panel, select “Gradebook”.
    2. Select the “!” for the assignment you are grading.
    3. Select “View” for information and to download files the student submitted.
    4. Enter the point value the student earned for the assignment.
    5. Enter any comments or feedback.
    6. Attach any files for the student.
    7. Add instructor notes and files:
      • Any feedback you enter for students will be visible to them.
      • If you enter information into the “instructor notes” area, this will only be visible to the instructor or TAs.

       

To Download All Student Assignments At Once:

  1. From the Control Panel, select "Gradebook Views" > "View Grades by Item"
  2. Click on the item you want to access "Item Download"
  3. Click on the "Check Ungraded" text to select all ungraded assignments
  4. After the assignments have been exported, click the download assignments now link.
    (PC users right click, Mac users control click)
  5. The completed assignments are bundled in a zipped file.
  6. Your computer will need a utility such as WinZip in order to open the file.
  7. Once you have opened the zipped file, you will see that student "comments" is stored in a separate file from any file they might have attached.
  8. You can make comments in the file by editing it and then saving a copy as the graded version, which can be uploaded and sent to the student.

 

To Clear a Students Attempt:

If a student experiences a problem while submitting an assignment, you can clear his/her attempt in order to allow that student to re-submit the assignment.

  1. From the Control Panel, click on Gradebook
  2. Click on the grade associated with that particular student's assignment (it may be a "!" or a padlock).
  3. Click the View button in the right-hand column.
  4. Click the Clear Attempt button that appears at the top-right of your screen.

 

For students > View and Submit Assignments:

    1. From the content area where the assignment is posted, select "View/Complete Assignment" under the assignment name.

    2. Read the instructions and download any documents attached to the assignment.
    3. While working on the assignment, you can click "Save" to save your work in progress.
    4. Once you have completed the assignment:
      • Enter comments to the instructor if desired.
      • Attach a file if necessary.
      • Click "Submit".
        (Your instructor will now be able to view your completed assignment.)

      Note: You can view an assignment as many times as you wish, but the instructor will not be able to see the progress on the assignment until it is submitted.
