Assessments:
Test Manager:
The Test Manager is where you create and modify assessments.
Create assessments from:
- Control Panel > Assessments > Test Manager
-- OR -
- Control Panel > Content Area > Add Test
-- OR --
- Course Content Area (click Edit View) > Add Test > Create New
Deploy assessments by:
Adding a test to a Content Area and setting visibility.
Add and Create Assessments:
- Select "Add Test".
- Click "Create" button to create a new test.
- Enter the name, description and instructions for the test.
- OR -
- Select from the list to add an existing test.
- Click "Submit".
- The "Test Canvas", where you will create your questions, will appear.

- Add, Modify, Remove, and Order Questions
- Question Type Options
- Creation Settings:
From the "Test Canvas":
Click "Creation Settings" to add more options for creating questions:
- Provide feedback for individual answers.
- Add images, files, and urls to questions and answers.
- Add categories and keywords to questions.
- Specify default point values for questions.
- Click the "Creation Settings" link.
- Click in the checkbox next to the option(s) you wish to display.
- Specify a default point value for questions.
Point values for individual questions can be changed during question creation.
- Click "Submit" and "Ok" to return to the Test Canvas to continue creating questions.
From the "Test Canvas":
- Select a question type (ie., Multiple Choice, True/False, Essay, etc.) from the dropdown menu.
- Select "Go"
- Enter question text.
- Assign the point value for the question.
- Click the checkbox indicating the "Correct" answer and enter answer text.
- Enter feedback text for correct and incorrect responses.
- If you've added options from the "Creation Settings", you will have additional fields available, including:
Categorize Question:
- This option is available if specified by you in the "Creation Settings".
- Makes it possible to select from a set of similar questions when building an assessment or pool.
- Facilitates keyword searching within pools.
- Click "Categorize" button.
- Select a category from the "Add to Category" dropdown menu to associate with the question if a category exists.
- Click "Add" button.
- AND/OR --
- Click "Category Manager" button.
- Add a new category:
Enter a name for the category into the text field and click "Add".
Repeat for as many categories you wish to create.
- Remove a category from association with a question by clicking the "Remove" button next to the name for the category.
- Select "Ok" to return to the "Add/Modify Question" page.
- Continue, under the "Categories" heading, to enter key words separated by commas into the "Keywords" text field (i.e., logic, statistics, lecture1, etc.).
- Click "Submit" to return to the "Test Canvas" to continue creating more questions.
- Select "Ok" when you are finished.
- Modify and Remove Questions:
From the "Test Canvas":
- Select "Modify" button next to the question you wish to edit.
- Select "Remove" button next to the question you wish to remove entirely.
From the "Test Canvas":
- Arrange the order of the questions by using the "Question #" dropdown menu on the left of each question.
- Finish:
- Select "Ok" when you've finished adding questions to the test.
- Options depending on question type selected:
If selecting " Random Block " as your question type (note: you must have a pool of questions to select this option):
- Select which question type you'd like to use to search the pools (ie, all, multiple choice, fill in the blank, etc.).
- Determine the number of questions to import.
- Determine the number of points per question.
- Select "import".
If selecting " Search Pools and Assessments ":
- Select the name of the pool or test you would like to search.
- Select the question type to search. (Note: If using the "Advanced" search feature, you can also search by keyword.)
- Select "Search".
- Once the search result screen opens, select which questions you would like to include.
- Select "Submit".
If selecting " Upload Questions ":
- Select "Choose File" and browse to select the file you're importing.
- Select "Submit".
Deploy Assessment:
- Click "Edit View" from within a content area.
- Select "Modify" next to the appropriate test.
- Select "Modify the Test" to go to the "Test Canvas" area and edit questions and answers;
- OR -
Select "Modify the Test Options" to determine the options for deploying the test.
- In the " Test Information " area, you can edit the name of the test, determine the color for the name, edit the test description, and determine if you wish the test to be launched in an external window.
- In " Test Availability ", determine if you would like to make the link to the test visible; if you want to create an announcement for the test; if you will allow students to take the test multiple times; determine if students must complete the test the first time it is launched (note: if this is selected, students will not be able to quit the test and return to it at a later time); establish a time limit for the test (if any); determine the dates the test will be viewable; and set a password for accessing the test if you'd like.
- In " Test Feedback ", you determine how you would like the students to view the feedback. For example, if you only want them to view the score, detailed results, correct answers, or a combination of detailed results, correct answers and feedback. Only one option may be selected.
- In " Test Presentation ", you determine if you would like the students to view the questions all at once or one at a time (ie, question by question). If you select "one at a time", you can also restrict the students so they cannot return to questions once they've answered them. In addition, you can select to randomize the questions for each assessment, so no two students receive the questions in the same order.
- Click "Submit".
