Entering Grades

Grade Center > Ways to Enter Grades into the Grade Center

    Automatically Entered Grades
    Some grades from student work generated in Assessments, Assignments, and graded Discussion Board threads are automatically added to the Grade Center spreadsheet upon completion. Automatically entered grades can be changed manually.

    Manually Entered Grades
    There are two ways to enter grades and providing feedback to students from the Grade Center.

  1. Option 1: In-line. Enter grades directly in grade column cells and click the "Enter" key on your keyboard to navigate down to the next student. Provide feedback using the contextual menu associated with the grade cell.
  2. Option 2: Grade Details page. Enter grades and feedback using the Grade Details page. Navigate to the next student from this page.

Option 1 > Manually Entering Grades In-Line

    To enter grades directly in the Grade Center spreadsheet:

  1. In the Grade Center spreadsheet, click in a grade column cell.
  2. Enter a grade directly in the cell.
  3. Click the "Enter" key on your keyboard to move down to the next cell in the column.
  4. You can enter the next grade while the previous grade is still "Saving".

  5. To provide feedback for students or to enter Grading Notes for instructor use, click the down arrows button in the cell to expose the contextual menu items available from the cell.
    Select "Add Comment" from the menu listing.
    Expose the cell contextual menu and select "Comments" to enter student feedback and grade notes
  6. Enter student feedback and/or grading notes in the appropriate text entry boxes.
  7. Click "Submit".
  8. Click the "Enter" key on your keyboard to move down to the next cell in the column.

Option 2 > Manually Entering Grades from the Grade Details page

    To enter grades from the Grade Details page:

  1. In the Grade Center spreadsheet, click on a grade column cell. Arrows will appear indicating a dropdown menu.
  2. Click on the down arrows to expose the contextual menu items available from the cell. Select "Grade Details" from the menu list.

  3. On the Page Details page, enter a grade value, feedback for students, and grading notes for instructor use.

     
  4. Enter a grade value, feedback, etc. for the next student from the "User" menu located at the top of the Grade Details page. Navigate through the student list with either the next/previous arrow buttons or by selecting a student name from the dropdown menu.
