Colleagues, Family and Friends Pay Tribute to the late William E. Brown, Ph.D.
It was standing room only for the memorial service held on Saturday, November 10th to remember the life and legacy of Dr. William E. Brown, a distinguished scientist and educator at Carnegie Mellon University for over thirty years. Hundreds of alumni, faculty, staff, current students, family members, and friends crowded into the hall to hear speakers from around the world remember Dr. Brown. Remembrances were given by former students and colleagues from both the Pittsburgh and Doha campuses of Carnegie Mellon, and both were connected live throughout the service in the spirit of Dr. Brown’s passion for bringing people together from all perspectives and walks of life. Following the service a departmental reception was held where former students were able to share their memories with current students and faculty in a more intimate setting. Many attendees of the departmental event gathered at The Fence, which had been painted by current students in memory of Dr. Brown, for a group photo.
