Biological Sciences Student Advisory Council (BioSAC) Wins Top Fundraising Team Award, Team Spirit Award for American Cancer Society's Relay for Life
October 21, 2007
The Biological Sciences Student Advisory Council (BioSAC) has once again claimed top fundraising prizes as part of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
This year the Relay was a much more personal fundraiser, as Team BioSAC participated in it as a tribute to one of the department’s favorite professors - William Brown, Ph.D. Brown's dedication to students and enthusiasm in teaching made him an integral part of the Department of Biological Sciences for over 30 years. This year Team BioSAC participated in Relay for Life as a tribute to Brown and his legacy. In the end, BioSAC's fundraising efforts led them to raise nearly $23,000 in Brown’s memory and earned them the top fundraising team award for the entire Oakland community and also earned them the Team Spirit Award.
A campus tribute to William Brown, Ph.D. will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Rangos Hall, University Center.
