Cleaners/Laundry

The Cleaners/Laundry combines, in one facility, a standard 24-hour, self-operated Laundromat; plus a dry cleaning pick-up/drop-off location. The free pick-up and delivery is offered only to the faculty and staff; please call x 88878 to arrange for a laundry or dry cleaning pickup. Unfortunately, we cannot delivery to the students dorms due to the unpredictable and changing student schedules. The usual turnaround time (pending when the request is placed) for dry cleaning is two days.

A popular student service has been to take advantage of the personal laundry service and have their laundry done while attending class. For .80¢ per pound the laundry will be color sorted, washed, dried and folded; ready for you!

The laundry equipment is operated with tokens. The tokens are sold in packs of 6 for $4.50. The packets are available for purchase in Entropy, The Cleaners/Laundry or from the desk attendants in Donner, Morewood, Mudge, Resnick and the West Wing.

Some helpful hint to keep in mind when doing your laundry:

Washers

• Do not overload.
• An average load should consist of no more than 6 pair of jeans in one washer.
• Sort clothes before you put them in the washer; do loads of like colors.
• Do not over pack clothes in the washers; clothes should be washed in loose loads.
• Over loading will prevent the soap from getting through the load.

• Extra soap does not get clothes cleaner, it only makes harder for the rinse cycle to remove the soap.
• For best results check the package for the suggested amount to use.

• Do not overload.
• For best results combine heavy and light articles in the dryer. For example:
  If you have one wash load with jeans and towels and another with shirts and light weight clothes, put half of the jeans in with the shirts. Do the same with the other half loads; this allows the clothes to dry evenly.

  If you have two heavy loads use two dryers. Do not try to put both loads into one dryer; it will take longer to dry the clothes.
