BMARS: CHAPTER 8

The Permission System

About the Permission System

The Permission System enables you to distribute projection permissions to others in your area for back-up purposes. It also lets you revoke or change access for individuals who leave or who are assigned other duties. You can assign View or Update privileges (or both) for:

  • E&GO and Auxiliary Centers
  • Designated, Restricted and Plant Equipment Centers
  • Sponsored Research Departments
  • Any combination of these three groups
  • Warning: Although B-MARS allows multiple users to update the same centers, the system is not designed for simultaneous update. Simultaneous update occurs when more than one user updates a center's projections at the same time. In this case, B-MARS will make a random choice and save only one user's updated projections. Any other user's projection changes will be lost. For this reason, it is imperative that multiple users coordinate their update schedules so that only one user is updating projections at a time. With a minimum of effort the problem of simultaneous update can be easily avoided.
