Moving Reports/Spreadsheets
When you use the Report option in BMARS your report/ spreadsheet is
saved to a file in your BMARS directory. In order to use this file
you must move it to your Macintosh. To do this you will use FTP (File
Transfer Protocol) which is part of the MacIp software already installed
on your machine.
In summary the steps to move BMARS files to your Macintosh are:
Connect to your BMARS directory.

- Double click on your MacIp (Telnet) Icon if you are not already running MacIp.
- Point to NETWORK on the menu bar and select FTP from the pull down menu.
- Click in the "Hostname" box and type 128.2.28.11.
Click in the "Username" box and type your userid.
Press RETURN.
- Type in your password and press RETURN.
Select and Copy BMARS files to your Macintosh
- Double click on the Macintosh folder that you want your BMARS file
copied to or click on the Macintosh folder and then click on the OPEN button.
- Click on the LIST button to expose your files/direc-tories.
Double click on your BMARS directory or click on your BMARS
directory and then click on the CD button.
Click on the LIST button again to expose your BMARS files.
- Click on the name of the file you wish to copy.
Click on the COPY button.
Cleanup and Logout of your BMARS directory:
- In your BMARS directory, click on the file you copied to your Macintosh.
Click on the REMOVE button.
- Point to FILE on the menu bar and select QUIT from the pull down
menu to disconnect from your BMARS directory.
Note: If you have more work to do in BMARS and would like to stay
logged in and transfer your files, you can do so. Follow steps 2 through 8.
Then use the close box in the upper left hand corner of the FTP menu to quit
FTP. You will still be logged into BMARS through MacIp and should see the
familiar BMARS menu. To format your reports, however, you will need to log
out of BMARS (unless you are running MultiFinder).
The following pages contain a detailed explanation and illustration
of the steps to move files to your Macintosh.
Moving files to your Macintosh
The following is a detailed illustration of moving files from BMARS
to your Macintosh. The graphic illustrations in this section were
produced using version 4.0.1 of the MacIp software. Since you
may have a different version of this software in-stalled on your
machine, the illustrations may appear slightly different on your
Macintosh.
Connect to your BMARS directory:

- Double click on your MacIp Icon to connect to the Utopia system.
- Point to NETWORK on the menu bar and select FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
from the pull-down menu.
A network connection box like the one below will appear:

- Click in the "Hostname" box and type 128.2.28.11.
Click in the "Username" box and type your userid
Press RETURN or click on OK.
Your Macintosh is now connected to the Utopia system and the following screen will appear:

- Type in your password and press RETURN.
You are now connected to your account on Utopia and the fol-lowing FTP menu will appear:

Select and Copy BMARS files to your Macintosh
The FTP menu consists of a series of options (Copy, Copy&Rename,
Append, Remove, and Rename) sandwiched be-tween 2 dialog boxes.
The dialog box on the left represents the files and folders
(directories) on your Macintosh; those that begin with DIR represent
the folders on your system unit.
If you wish to place your BMARS file(s) in a specific folder on your Macintosh:

- Double click on the Macintosh folder that you want your BMARS file copied to.
If you are running an older version of MacIp, click on the Macintosh folder and
then click on the OPEN button.
The dialog box on the right is your Utopia directory. For some individuals
a list of files and directories will appear automatically. Others should Click on the
LIST button to expose your directories.
The screen below will appear.

Double click on your BMARS directory or click on your BMARS directory
and then click on the CD button.
Click on the LIST button again to expose your BMARS files.

- Click on a name of the file you wish to copy.
Click on the COPY button.
Repeat this step for each file you wish to move. You may select
multiple files by holding the SHIFT KEY down and clicking on each
file you wish to transfer. Then click on the COPY button.
Cleanup and Logout of your BMARS directory:
You should always clean up your BMARS directory after moving files
to your Macintosh. There is a limited amount of space in your BMARS
directory and as files build up you will eventually run out of room to
store new reports/spreadsheets that you run.
Clean up your BMARS directory by removing any files from it that
you have moved to your Macintosh.

- In your BMARS directory, click on the file(s) you copied.
Click on the REMOVE button.
You can now disconnect from your BMARS directory and FTP.
- Point to FILE on the menu bar and select QUIT from the pull down
menu to disconnect from your BMARS directory.
Note: If you have more work to do in BMARS and would like to stay logged
in and transfer your files, you can do so. Use the close box in the upper
left hand corner of the FTP menu to quit FTP. You will still be logged into
BMARS through MacIp and should see the familiar BMARS menu. To format your
reports, however, you will need to log out of BMARS.
Once your BMARS file is on your Macintosh you can format the
file as a spreadsheet (MsExcel) or a report (Microsoft Word).
