Wobb Crosses Third at Mideast Regional

Nov. 12 – (CENTER VALLEY, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team finished eighth at the 2011 Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 12, at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) crossed the line third overall to punch her place in the 2011 Division III NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 19, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Johns Hopkins University won the race while Dickinson University's Taylor Ludman crossed first in 22:33.

Wobb will make her third appearance at the NCAA Championships after finishing this year's regional third overall in 22:38. She led the Tartans for the third year at regionals over the 6k course.

Sophomore Catherine Paquette (Bethel, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) was second to cross the finish line for the Tartans in 56th place in 24:40. Junior Eva Humphrey (Asheville, N.C.) was third for the Tartans in 25:02 and 79th overall.

Freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) was 102nd overall in 25:33 and senior Cassie Wallace (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) was 118th overall in 25:43. Following Wallace was freshman Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) in 26:02 (136th) and senior Lauren Sittler (Sewickley, Pa./Ambridge) in 152nd in a time of 26:16.
