Tartans Fall 2-1 to #10 Rochester

Nov. 1 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to University Athletic Association (UAA) foe the University of Rochester for a Sunday contest. The Tartans fell 2-1 against the #10 Yellowjackets to fall to 6-7-2 on the year and 1-3-2 in UAA play. The Yellowjackets improve to 12-3-2 and 5-1.

It wasn't until the 44th minute that the Yellowjackets were able to get a goal on the board when Ellen Coleman scored with a header off a cross from the right wing.

Early into the second period, Rochester added to their lead with a goal from 18 yards out by Bridgette Varin at 53:38.

The Tartans were able to get a shot past Celeste Hornbach in goal for the home team when freshman Katie Davis (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) put in a header at 83:35. Her fourth goal of the season came off a corner kick by junior Emily Overstreet (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity).

Junior Anya Rosen (La Canada, Calif.) made two saves for the Tartans in the loss.

The Tartans will finish the regular season with a road contest against Emory University on Saturday, November 7 in Atlanta, Georgia. The game is set to start at 1:30 p.m.
