Tartans Win 3-2 Thriller in Final Home Match

Oct. 30 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Tartans volleyball team finished their regular season home stand with a 3-2 win against Elizabethtown College on Friday night in Skibo Gymnasium. Carnegie Mellon University is now 16-11 on the year, while Etown dropped to 17-8.

Elizabethtown stole game one from the Tartans 27-25 after the Tartans jumped to an early 7-2 lead. Carnegie Mellon rebounded to win game two, 25-20 before the Blue Jays took game three 25-17.

With their backs against the wall, the Tartans rallied to win 26-24 in game four to force the deciding game five which they led 8-6 and finished off 16-14.

Senior Jess Brackin (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) and junior Caroline Size (Lewes, Del./Saint Thomas More Academy) each tallied 13 kills while senior Megan Killeen (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) followed with 12. Senior Sam Carter (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor) totaled 42 assists, five kills, and 14 digs. Sophomore Maddie Rosnick (Fallsington, Pa./Pennsbury) also registered double-digit kills with 10.

Defensively, junior Cameron Griffin (Lake Forest, Ill.) led with 25 digs while Killeen had 18 and sophomore Emily Baddock (Houston, Texas/Dulles) and Size each had nine.

The Tartans continue their season with a road match at Washington & Jefferson College Saturday, October 31, at 2:30 p.m.
