Tartans Tie for Second at UAA Meet

Matt Jacob (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the University Athletic Association Championship Saturday morning in Cleveland, Ohio. Case Western Reserve University was the host of the meet at Squire Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valley, Ohio, where New York University took the title again with 41 points as the Tartans and Emory University tied for second with 67 points.
Jacob finished sixth overall with a time of 26:33.69 as junior
J.P. Allera (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) finished 11th in 26:46.55. Senior
Dario Donatelli, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) was next to finish the 8k course for the Tartans in 14th place as junior
Dan Addis (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) was right behind him in 15th place. Donatelli crossed in 26:53.44 as Addis finished in 26:54.70.
Junior
Nate Bussiere (Canton, Conn.) was the fifth Tartan to finish as he crossed in 27:11.72 and in 21st place. The Tartans sixth runner was junior
Justin Kurp (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) who finished 43rd as senior
Chris Rizzo (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) finished 48th and in 28:14.55.
Rizzo's finished proved to be most influential as he was five spots ahead of Emory's seventh runner.
Jacob earned first team All-Association for his sixth-place finish while Allera and Donatelli, Jr. earned second team distinction.
The Tartans will next compete at the Mideast Regional hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday, November 14.
