Tartans Top Wolverines 180-109

Nov. 12 – (GROVE CITY, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team traveled north to Grove City College on Saturday, November 12, for a 1:00 p.m. meet with the Wolverines. The Tartans won the meet 180-109 behind 12 first-place finishes and three sweeps.
The 200-yard medley relay team of freshman
Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview), sophomore
Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona), junior
Dan Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) and sophomore
Eddie Sears (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) opened the meet with a 1:37.89 first-place finish.
The jump start to the meet continued as three freshmen swept the 1,000-yard freestyle as
Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) won the event for the second consecutive meet in a time of 9:57.29.
David Campbell (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) was second in 10:03.24 and
Brian Ip (Sunnyvale, Calif./St. Francis) placed third in 10:33.09.
Junior
Brandon Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) won the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:45.44 before Razanav won the 100-yard backstroke for the second meet in 54.81.
Glaser-Garbrick took the top place in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.80 as Brandon Yee was behind him in 1:57.58 for second place. He later won the 100-yard butterfly in season-best 52.23. Sears won his first individual event when he touched first in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.82.
In diving, senior
Eli Fatsi (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) won both events with 275.05 points on the three-meter board and 242.50 points on the one-meter board. Senior
Mike Alexovich (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) was second in both with 231.75 points on the three-meter board and 230.35 points on the one-meter.
The Tartans swept their second event of the day in the 200-yard backstroke as the freshmen showed their strength again.
Michael Kellman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) won in 1:58.51, Razanav was second in 1:58.77 and
Thomas Wadolowski (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) was third in 2:03.23.
Freshman
Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) added to the depth of the Tartans first-year class with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.85 before the team swept the 500-yard freestyle with three freshmen. Andrew Yee won with a time of 4:48.71, Campbel was second in 4:50.64 and
Dylan McDermott (South Plainfield, N.J./Saint Joseph) was third in 5:00.05.
The Tartans will be back home on Saturday, November 19, when they host Allegheny College, University of Rochester and Washington & Lee University in their annual quad meet beginning at 11:30 a.m.
