Men's Soccer Set to Host NCAA Sectionals
Nov. 16 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – After winning its first and second round NCAA Division III Men's Soccer championship games, the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team will host the sectionals beginning Friday at 5:00 p.m. The Tartans will play host to Calvin College, Swarthmore College and Transylvania University with two games on Friday and one on Saturday.
Transylvania (16-3-1) defeated Capital University 2-1 and Ohio Wesleyan University 1-0 in overtime to advance and will take on Swarthmore College (16-2-2), who defeated Merchant Marine Academy 2-1 and Hobart College 2-1. The game between the Pioneers and Garnet will start at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Gesling Stadium.
The Tartans (16-2-1) will face Calvin (16-4-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening. Calvin defeated Wheaton (Ill.) College 2-1 before needing a shootout to defeat Wartburg College. The Tartans and Knights faced off in last year's opening round with the Tartans prevailing 3-0 at Ohio Wesleyan.
The winners will play on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. to see who will reach the final four in San Antonio, Texas, on December 4 and 5.
