Browne Named UAA Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week

Nov. 17 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Ryan Browne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week.  Browne helped the Tartans advance to the sectionals of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship with two victories over the weekend.

In the opening round against Thomas More College, the senior tallied two goals in a 4-2 victory before scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Medaille College Sunday afternoon.      

The Tartans (16-2-1) will face Calvin College (16-4-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening in the round of 16. Calvin defeated Wheaton (Ill.) College 2-1 before needing a shootout to defeat Wartburg College. The Tartans and Knights faced off in last year's opening round of the NCAA Championship with the Tartans prevailing 3-0 at Ohio Wesleyan.
