Einhorn Paces Tartans at Vulcan Invitational

Oct. 23 – (BELLE VERNON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University golf team competed in the 36-hole two-day, Vulcan Invitational hosted by California University of Pennsylvania at the Cedarbrook Golf Course, October 22-23. After firing a season-low team round of 297 Saturday in the opening round, the Tartans carded a 321 on Sunday finishing with a score of 618, placing fourth in the five-team event.
The host, California University of Pennsylvania, won the 36-hole event after recording rounds of 293 and 299 for a 592. The invitational was originally scheduled for Oct. 2-3 before weather conditions forced it to be rescheduled. Fellow Division II school, Clarion University, was second with a 598. Point Park University carded a 615 followed by the Tartans and then Washington & Jefferson with a 619.
Senior
Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) paced the Tartans, as he tied for second after carding a three-over 146 (74-72). His score of 72 on Sunday was the lowest in the field of 35 during the final round. Finishing four strokes behind Einhorn was sophomore
Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) with a 150 (71-79) placing tied for eighth.
Freshman
Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) fired back-to-back rounds of 80 to place 26th overall with a 160. Freshman
Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) ended the invitational with a 165 (75-90). After carding a 77 on Saturday, freshman
Matt Isler (Southlake, Texas/Carroll Senior) did not finish the round Sunday afternoon.
