Zacharias and Pattison Honored by UAA

Nov. 4 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Two players from the Carnegie Mellon University football team were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as Athletes of the Week following the Tartans 21-13 come-from-behind victory over Washington University, Saturday, October 31. Senior outside linebacker Socrates Zacharias (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) on the defensive side and junior Richard Pattison (Rocky River, Ohio) on special teams earned the honor.

On the Bears last drive of the game, Zacharias recorded his first interception of the season to seal the victory for the Tartans.  In the win the senior also recorded a sack for a loss of 11 yards and tied a career-high with 10 total tackles.

Pattison turned in yet another solid performance in the comeback.  The junior averaged 39.3 yards per punt, while placing one of his punts inside the Bears 20-yard line with a long of 55 yards.  His 55-yard boot resulted in a fumble that led to the Tartans first score of the contest.

The Tartans will continue UAA play as they host 9th-ranked Case Western Reserve Saturday, November 7.  Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. on the turf of Gesling Stadium.
