Tartans Host Washington U. in UAA Opener on Homecoming

Oct. 28 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University football team will host Washington University Saturday, October 31, in the opening game of University Athletic Association play for both teams. Homecoming kick is set for 1:00 p.m. on the turf of Gesling Stadium. The Tartans will enter the contest with a 4-3 record after dropping their last two contests, while the Bears will enter Gesling Stadium with a mark of 3-4.
Carnegie Mellon University enters its 27th contest against Washington leading the series 14-12. From 1987 to 1998 the Tartans won 11 of 12 from the Bears, with the only loss coming in 1994 (36-25). Washington won seven straight from 1999-2005 but the Tartans have won two of the last three meetings. The first-ever meeting between the programs was in 1929 as the Tartans of Carnegie Tech defeated Washington 19-0 in the only shutout of the series.
The Cardinal and Gray are coming off a 28-7 setback to then ranked No. 21 Wittenberg University. The Bears snapped a two-game losing streak this past Saturday with a 26-14 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.
