4th Annual Tartan Olympics to be Held February 3-5, 2012
In an effort to unite the campus community and promote school spirit through friendly competition, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council developed the Tartan Olympics in 2009. The campus-wide event is open to all students and offers contests in mental, physical and skill-related games. Teams will be comprised of 10-12 members who will pick and choose their events. There is a $500 prize towards the winning team’s organization or charity of their choice, as well as other prizes and giveaways for the runners-up.
The Olympics will begin at halftime of the women's basketball game against NYU on Friday, February 3 at 6 p.m. There will be free pizza and beverages for all Tartan Olympic participants and points will be awarded for team members who wear Carnegie Mellon colors to the game. Following the women's game, the competition begins with a three-point shooting contest at halftime of the men's basketball game.
On Saturday, February 4, the Tartan Olympics will take over the University Center’s Weigand Gym from 6-9 p.m.
The Olympics will wrap up with an awards ceremony on Sunday, February 5th at halftime of the men’s basketball game versus Brandeis.
