Carnegie Mellon Opens New Fitness Facility

Ribbon CuttingSept. 30 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation officially opened its new fitness facility on Wednesday, September 30. Students, faculty and staff attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and were formally introduced to the new equipment.

As part of a campus-wide initiative to increase awareness regarding physical education and health, the athletics department led an effort to bring state-of-the-art Cybex weight equipment to the University Center fitness facility.

“This is an exciting day for the community,” said Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Susan Bassett. “Our new equipment is user-friendly and a cutting-edge product in the industry. We are committed to increasing recreational fitness opportunities on campus and our enhanced facility is a wonderful step in that direction.”

The University Center facility is open from 6 a.m.-2 a.m. on Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-2 a.m. on the weekends.
