Jessica Pope and Adam Hindes Named to Sports Medicine Staff
July 23 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Susan Bassett has announced the appointment of two athletic trainers, Jessica Pope and Adam Hindes. Pope replaces Steff Westrick, who departed in May to pursue other opportunities. Hindes fills the vacancy left by Chris Rose, who accepted a position at a local high school.
“We are excited to welcome Adam and Jessica to the Carnegie Mellon athletics family,” said Bassett. “They both have outstanding credentials and will be wonderful additions to our staff.”
Pope comes to Carnegie Mellon after serving as the assistant athletic trainer last year at St. Mary’s College in Maryland. She earned her bachelor of science degree in business management in 2006 followed by a second bachelor's in human nutrition, foods and exercise science in 2007 from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Pope then completed her Master of Science degree in health and human performance with an emphasis in athletic training in 2009 from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
Hindes joins the Tartan staff as athletic trainer and coordinator of sports medicine. A native of Pittsburgh, Hindes has been an athletic trainer at Mason High School in Mason, Ohio since 2008. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his bachelor’s degree of Health, Physical and Recreation Education, Athletic Training. Hindes continued his education at Ohio University, earning his master’s in Physical Education, Athletic Training. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Also joining the athletic training staff is Lisa Andrews, a graduate of Florida State University. Adam May will return for his second year with the department. Both May and Andrews are part of the UPMC Sports Medicine staff.
