Carter Earns UAA Co-Athlete of the Week Honors


Sept. 10 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore setter Samantha Carter (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor) was named Co-Athlete of the Week by the University Athletic Association following her five match performance during the week. Carter shares the honor with Brandeis' Piera Carfagno.

 Carter led the Tartans to a 2-2 mark at the College of Wooster Tournament on September 7-8. Carter had a total of 200 assists in four matches and recorded 50 assists in a dual match Wednesday, while the Tartans dropped a 3-2 decision at St. Vincent College. In the Tartans third match of the Wooster Tournament, Carter tallied a career-high 67 assists, while recording a hitting percentage of .571 (nine kills, one error on 14 attempts) and had 10 digs in a 3-2 victory over Westminster College.

In the Tartans second win of the tournament, 3-0 over Alma, she recorded 34 assists and had a hitting percentage of .625 (five kills, zero errors on eight attempts) and had seven digs. The Tartans dropped the first two matches of the tournament, 3-1 to Mount Union and Muskingum, in which she recorded 49 and 50 assists, respectively. Carter was named to the All-Tournament Team marking her second straight honor, as she also earned All-Tournament recognition following the Ohio Northern Tournament the previous weekend.
