Kim Kelly Named Women's Volleyball Coach
April 5 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University Interim Director of Athletics, Dr. David Belowich, named Kim Kelly head coach of the women’s volleyball program on Tuesday, April 5. Kelly replaces Julie Bigger who resigned in November after nine years at the helm.
Kim Kelly started her coaching career as an assistant volleyball coach for four seasons at Gettysburg College before being named an interim co-head coach for the 1996 campaign. She then assumed the permanent head coaching duties beginning in 1997. Kelly served as the head women’s volleyball coach for the Bullets through the 2004 season. During her nine year tenure, the Bullets posted a 250-82 record while capturing eight Centennial Conference championships and appearing in the NCAA tournament eight times.
A 1992 graduate of Gettysburg College, Kelly was regarded as one of the top setters ever to play volleyball for the Bullets. During her four seasons (1988-91) she was credited with 2,079 assists, the third-highest total in school history.
