Tartans Volleyball Goes 4-0 At Case Western Reserve Tournament

Sept. 17 - (CLEVELAND, Ohio) - Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team competed Saturday, September 17 in the final day of the Case Western Reserve University Tournament and came away with a perfect 4-0 mark.

On Friday the Tartans took care of John Carroll 3-0 (30-20, 30-16, 30-23) and host Case Western Reserve 3-0 (30-13, 30-19, 30-21). Leading the way for Carnegie Mellon was junior Catie Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) with two match totals of 29 kills, three block assists and two block solos. Junior setter Brea Carlock (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) tallied 78 assists in the two matches.

In the Tartans first match Saturday they defeated Notre Dame (Ohio) College 3-0 (30-24, 30-22, 30-19). Leading the way for Carnegie Mellon was Fisher and junior Amanda Bradford (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) with 11 kills each. Senior Chrissy Bartek (Plum Borough, Pa./Plum) recorded six service aces and junior Kat Fox (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) had 13 digs. Carlock tallied 35 assists and four service aces.

The Tartans revenged an early week loss to Washington & Jefferson by defeating the Presidents 3-1 with scores of 29-31, 30-19, 30-28, and 30-12. Carnegie Mellon was once again led by Fisher with 18 kills, 19 digs and three block assists. Bradford recorded 16 kills and 15 digs, and Bartek finished with 11 kills, two block solos, and four block assists. Fox had a game-high 21 digs and seven service aces. Carlock registered 54 assists and three block assists.

Carnegie Mellon will be back in action September 23 and 24 as they host their annual Tournament.
