Jessica Meng (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has qualified for the NCAA Women’s Track and Field Championships to be held March 9-10 at Rose Hulman Institution of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Meng will compete in the high jump.
Meng brought home the Tartans’ lone first place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships this past weekend, as she won the high jump with a school record height of 1.66m (5'5.25''). Her height surpassed her old school record of 1.57m (5'1.75'') set in 2006.
She becomes the first women’s field participant to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the history of the program and the first track and field participant since the 1998 season. In 1998, assistant coach Maureen McGrannagham placed sixth in the 5000 meter run.
The high jump preliminaries are set for Friday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. with the finals to follow.
