Sikora and Helmstetter Represent Women’s Track and Field at Raleigh Relays

Mar. 25 - (RALEIGH, N.C.) – For the majority of the Carnegie Mellon women’s outdoor track and field team, their opening meet will be Saturday, April 1 when they host the Western Pennsylvania Championships. This was not the case for seniors Jocelyn Sikora (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) and K.J. Helmstetter (Beavercreek, Ohio/Miami Valley) however, as they made the trip south to compete in the Raleigh Relays located on the North Carolina State University campus at the Paul Derr Track & Field Stadium.

Sikora competed in the 1500 meter run and Helmstetter raced in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Sikora came in 55th overall in the unseeded race with a time of 5:04.37 and Helmstetter finished 10th overall in the second unseeded race with a time of 11:56.52.

The next race for the Carnegie Mellon women’s outdoor track and field team is the Western Pennsylvania Championships, which are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.
