Women’s Track Places Third at Oberlin Invitational

Feb. 10 - (OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon women’s indoor track and field team competed at the Oberlin College Invitational Friday, February 10, and finished third out of a field of seven scoring 90 points. The Tartans followed Case Western Reserve (101) and Cuyahoga Community College (99).

The field events proved to be strong for the Tartans, as junior Becky Metler (Bridgewater, NJ/Kent Place) led the way for the Tartans placing first in the shot put with a distance of 11.25. Sophomore Adriane Soehner (Honeoyo Falls, N.Y./Honeoyo Fall-Lima) placed third in the shot put as she threw 10.50 meters.

Carnegie Mellon freshman Jessica Meng (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) placed second in the long jump with a distance of 4.50 meters. Sophomore Allison Hannon (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) in the pole vault, placed third as she jumped a height of 2.55 meters, her best outing of the year.

The Tartans will be back in action Saturday, February 18 as they take part in the Tune Up held at Kent State University.
