#9 Tartans Start UAA Championship Run with 7-0 Win

Apr. 18 – (ST. LOUIS, Mo.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team started the University Athletic Association Championship with a 7-0 win over the number seven seed University of Rochester. The Tartans, who are ranked 9th in the nation, are now 16-6 on the year.
Doubles action included two wins by an 8-1 score and the third with an 8-6 win by the number one team. Two freshman picked up wins at number six and number three singles. Danielle Rosenfeld (Gladwyne, Pa./Harriton) played at number six and won 6-1, 6-0 while Kelly Hart (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Joaquin) played number three and won 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore Alisa Liebowitz (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) also won at number four singles 6-2, 6-3 and lone senior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H. H. Dow) won 6-4, 7-5 at number one singles.
The Tartans will play Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. central time in a semifinal match with the winner moving on to play the winner of Emory University and the University of Chicago at 9 a.m. Sunday.
