#9 Women’s Tennis Falls in UAA Championship Match to #4 Emory

Apr. 20 – (ST. LOUIS, Mo.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team, ranked ninth nationally, competed in the finals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships Sunday, April 20 on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. This marks the third consecutive year the Tartans played for the championship and every year the Cardinal and Gray have faced the Eagles of Emory University, who are currently ranked fourth nationally. The Tartans dropped an 8-1 decision to the Eagles moving their dual match record to 17-7, as Emory moves to 14-9.
The Tartans fell behind 2-1 following doubles play with the lone victory coming at second doubles. The freshmen duo of
Kelly Hart (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Joaquin) and
Ashley Herrick (Amherst, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) defeated Kirsten Hillock and Jenny Moscato 8-3.
Emory University has won all 21 of the UAA Championships since the conference was formed.
