Women’s Tennis to Host NCAA Atlantic South Regional
Apr. 28 – (INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s tennis team received word late Monday that they will host the five team Atlantic South Regional of the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship on Friday-Sunday, May 2-4, on the courts of Carnegie Mellon University. This marks the first time ever the Tartans will host the NCAA event and is the fourth straight appearance for the Cardinal and Gray in the NCAA Tournament.
No. 4 seed Hunter (17-0) and No. 5 seed Wilkes (17-2) will meet on Friday at noon, with the winner facing No. 1 seed Washington and Lee (24-0) on Saturday in the semifinals at 1:00p.m. No. 2 seed Carnegie Mellon University (17-7) and No. 3 seed Ithaca (13-5) will square off in the other semifinal on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The winner of the two semifinal matches will meet Sunday at noon with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships.
Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota will serve as the host of the final eight May 13-15, while the singles and doubles championship will take place, May 16-18.
