Staloch and Chui Advance to ITA 5th Place Match

Oct. 11 – (MOBILE, Ala.) – Carnegie Mellon women’s tennis team had two players at the ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala, Thursday, October 11. The doubles pair of senior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) and freshman Jennifer Chui (Saratoga, Calif./Monta Vista) advanced to the fifth place match.

In their first match of the afternoon the duo dropped a hard fought 6-7(0), 7-5, 10-7 decision to Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach of Gustavus Adolphus College.  The tandem then had to face the number one seeded doubles team of Christina Contrafatto and Jackie Shtemberg of the College of New Jersey in the first round of the consolation bracket.  The Cardinal and Gray pair pulled the upset winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, advancing to Friday’s fifth place match.

The match is set 2:00 pm, as they will face Stephanie Kurti and Becky Morse-Karzen of Mary Washington.
