#8 Tartans Fall to #6 Big Red

Apr. 13 – (GRANVILLE, Ohio) – The Tartans' women's tennis team ran into a tough opponent on the road Sunday, April 14 as they fell to the #6 Denison Big Red in a match that was moved to Kenyon College due to weather. The #8 Tartans won just one doubles match on the day in the 8-1 loss to move to 14-6 on the year.

Freshmen Ashley Herrick (Amherst, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and Kelly Hart (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Joaquin) earned Carnegie Mellon University's first and only win at number two doubles with an 8-3 victory and their 16th of the year.

Herrick and senior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H. H. Dow) each played tough matches at fifth and first singles, respectively. Each fell behind 6-3 before winning the second set and falling in the third 10-8.

The Tartans now travel to St. Louis, Mo. for the University Athletic Association Championships held by Washington University in St. Louis from Friday, April 18 - Sunday, April 20.
