Chui Named UAA Women's Tennis Co-Rookie of the Year

Four Others Named All-UAA

Apr. 25 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman Jennifer Chui (Saratoga, Calif./Monta Vista) was named Women’s Tennis Co-Rookie of the Year of the University Athletic Association (UAA) by the tennis coaches of the association, as announced Friday, April 25. Chui is joined by four other teammates on the All-UAA Teams.  

The Tartans lone first team accolade was the doubles tandem of freshmen Kelly Hart (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Joaquin) and Ashley Herrick (Amherst, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) at second doubles.  The duo has a combine mark of 21-3 and went 2-0 at the UAA Championships.  Herrick also garnered second team accolades at fifth singles.  The freshman has compiled a 19-8 record.

Senior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow), Chui and sophomore Alisa Liebowitz (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) join Herrick on the second team at first, second and fourth singles, respectively.

Staloch had a regular season overall record of 17-13 in singles and 22-9 in doubles play.  She ended the season with a 2-1 mark at the UAA Championships.  Chui collected an 18-12 record in singles play with a 3-0 mark at first singles and a 22-9 record at first doubles.  Liebowitz finished the season 16-11 and won two of her three matches at the championships.  

The Tartans finished second in the UAA for the third straight season with an overall team record of 17-7. They are currently ranked 9th in Division III.
