Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

Aug. 23 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon women's tennis team was given All-Academic distinction by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). This marks the fourth straight year the women's team has been honored.

Four student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2006-07 season. Graduates Mona Iyer (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington)  and Mai Otsuka (Gifu, Japan/Kimball Union Academy) receive the honor for the second straight year, as well as current senior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow). Sophomore Andrea Meythaler (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) makes the list after her first year of competition. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must have at least a 3.50 GPA and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Staloch and Meythaler begin 2007 action on September 7 during the Carnegie Mellon Invitational which is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
