Carnegie Mellon Loses Tough Championship Match

April 22 - (CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The Tartans women's tennis team suffered a loss in the championship match of the University Athletic Association to Emory University by a 6-3 score. This was the second straight year the Tartans played Emory for the championship title. The Tartans are now 12-8 on the year and wait to hear about a NCAA Regional bid.

Junior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) paired with senior Mona Iyer (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) to win their number one doubles match 8-2 over Richelle Marasigan and Sabra Rogers. Staloch then went on to win her number one singles match over Marasigan 7-5, 6-2, to revenge her three set loss a year ago. Junior Samantha Schultz (Okemos, Mich.) also earned a point for the Tartans with her 6-2, 6-1 win at number five singles.
