Staloch UAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week
Sept. 27 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance this past week at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships in Fredericksburg, Va.
Staloch won the singles title at the Southeast Regional after being seeded first in the tournament. She defeated the fourth-seeded competitor from Washington and Lee University 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals and went on to post an identical 6-4, 6-4 victory in the finals over the second seed, also from Washington and Lee.
Staloch combined with doubles partner Mona Iyer as the top seeded doubles team to advance to the championship match, falling 5-8 to the third-seeded team from Swarthmore College.
