Women’s Tennis Staloch and Iyer Place Third at ITA’s

Oct. 13 - (FT. MYERS, Fla.) - Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis player’s, senior Mona Iyer (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) and junior Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow), placed third at the ITA National Small College Championships at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL, Friday, October 13. Staloch will play for third place Saturday in singles competition Saturday.

Iyer and Staloch were defeated by Laura Fanjoy and Gabriela Carvalho of the University of the South (7-6, 6-3) in the semifinals before winning the third place match. The duo defeated Amanda Romana and Elizca Buys of Carthage College to bring home third place.

In singles play, Staloch fell to the #1 seed Elizabeth Bondi of DePauw University (6-2, 6-1). Staloch will now face Richelle Marasigan from Emory University in the third place singles match.
