Women's Tennis Falls to Number One Ranked Team

May 7 - (LEXINGTON, Va.) – Carnegie Mellon's women's tennis team's season came to a close Sunday, May 7 with a 5-0 loss to the number one ranked team in the nation, Washington & Lee University. The Generals are undefeated on the year (26-0) and move on to the national quarterfinals to be held in Santa Cruz, California next weekend.

The Tartans #1 doubles combination of junior Mona Iyer (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) and sophomore Amy Staloch (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow) lost their first match in their last 11 attempts, falling 8-6 in a close match. The remaining scores are below.

The Tartans team season ended with their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and a second place finish at the University Athletic Association Championships.
