Iyer Earns Fourth UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

Apr. 18 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) Carnegie Mellon University junior Mona Iyer (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance in helping the Tartans to a 3-0 week.

Iyer posted a perfect record at second singles and first doubles without dropping a set in helping the Tartans to a flawless week. She opened the week with victories over NCAA Division II Mercyhurst College, posting a 6-0, 6-4 win in singles and partnering with Amy Staloch to record an 8-2 win at doubles. Iyer registered back-to-back wins in a pair of weekend matches against Washington College (6-1, 6-0 singles; 8-4 doubles) and Johns Hopkins University (6-2, 6-1 singles; 8-4 doubles).

This marks the fourth time this season that Iyer has been honored by the UAA for her performance.
