Evans Garners Second UAA Honor

Nov. 20 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Molly EvansCarnegie Mellon University freshman Molly Evans (Butler, Pa.) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week for her performance over the weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Quad Duals.

Evans won three individual events, establishing school records and NCAA Division III provisional qualifying times in two, in helping the Tartans to three dual victories.  Carnegie Mellon defeated Franklin & Marshall College, Washington & Lee University, and UAA rival University of Rochester.

The freshman improved her season-best times in capturing the 100-yard backstroke (:58.55) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.22), setting new school records and surpassing NCAA Division III provisional qualifying times.  She also claimed the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.40).   

This marks Evans’ second UAA Athlete of the Week award this season.  She received the honor after her first collegiate meet.
