Stats

Oct. 12 – (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman goalkeeper Anya Rosen (La Canada, Calif.) came up with some big saves and the Tartans tied the University of Rochester 1-1 in University Athletic Association women's soccer action Friday night. The Tartans are now 6-4-2 and 1-1-1 in the UAA for the year, while Rochester is 7-3-1 and 2-0-1.

The Yellowjackets put one away early when Ali Streeter tipped in a corner kick by Laura Bojko for her third goal of the season in the 19th minute of play.

Rosen made four of her seven saves in the first period keeping the Tartans in the game giving the visitors a chance to equalize. The game-tying goal came in the 80th minute when junior defender Sarah DeWath (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) met senior Amanda Rose's (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) corner kick and chipped it past Yellowjacket keeper, Molly Leitch.

Senior and leading goal scorer Abby Coffin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) put two shots on goal but Leitch saved each, one in each period.

"We faced some adversity tonight but we stuck together and pulled out a great result," commented Tartans Head Coach Sue Willard.

Rochester had a chance to end the game in regulation but Streeter's shot at the 82:21 mark hit the post.

Neither team had much offense during overtime as Rochester managed one shot, 1:26 into the first 10 minutes that was saved off the line by freshman Emily Overstreet (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity).

Carnegie Mellon will now face Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, October 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Cleveland for another UAA match.
