Carnegie Mellon Rebounds with 3-1 Win

Kasey Stever (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) scored her team leading third goal of the season and the women's soccer team of Carnegie Mellon University defeated Otterbein College 3-1 as part of the Otterbein Tournament held at Kenyon College due to field conditions. The Tartans are now 2-2 on the season, while Otterbein moves to 1-2-1.
Stever opened the scoring in the 39th minute when she finished a corner kick by senior midfielder Amanda Rose (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West). One minute and forty seconds later, junior forward Abby Coffin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) scored her second goal and first game-winner of the season off a pass from Stever.
The Tartans added to their two-goal lead when Rose scored an unassisted goal just over 12 minutes into the second half.
Junior keeper Christie Adams (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) totaled five saves for the game but not before Chanel Smith put Otterbein on the board in the 80th minute.
Carnegie Mellon returns to Gesling Stadium for their first home match of the season on Friday, September 14. The College of Wooster comes to Pittsburgh for a 7:30 p.m. start.
