Tartans Drop ECAC Quarterfinal Match

Nov. 7 – (FROSTBURG, Md.) – In the quarterfinal of the ECAC South Women’s Soccer Tournament the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans fell to Frostburg State University 1-0 at Frostburg Wednesday night. The Tartans finish the year with an 8-7-2 record while Frostburg moves on in the ECAC tournament with a record of 16-4-1.

Amanda Drake scored what proved to be the game-winner for Frostburg in the 27th minute off an assist by Lauren Lentine.

Junior forward Abby Coffin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) put a shot on goal in the seventh minute that Stephanie Gwinn saved for the Bobcats.

The play turned in the Bobcats favor as they made Anya Rosen (La Canada, Calif.) make three saves before Drake scored.

Senior midfielder Amanda Rose (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) had a shot on goal 40 seconds later but Gwinn prevented the equalizer. Senior Kasey Stever (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) also had an opportunity in the first half that Gwinn turned away.

For the match, each keeper made five saves as Frostburg held the edge in corner kicks 4-3.
