Stats

Oct. 3 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s soccer team and the visiting Allegheny Gators battled to a 0-0 tie under the stars at Gesling Stadium on Wednesday, October 3. The defensive battle moves the Tartans to 5-4-1 on the season while the Gators are now 3-5-2.

The Tartans took eight shots in the game compared to three from Allegheny. Allegheny freshman goalkeeper Kelsie Mozzoni made one save in the game, while Tartan freshman goalkeeper Anya Rosen (La Cañada, Calif.) registered the shutout despite not making any saves in the game.

The strong play of the Tartan back line was a big reason for the shutout. Junior defender Sarah DeWath (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista), junior defender Mary Ashe (Rockville, Md./Wootton), sophomore defender Casey Garth (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and freshman defender Emily Overstreet (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) turned away numerous Allegheny attacks throughout regulation and in both overtimes.

The Tartan women’s soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, October 6 when they host University Athletic Association opponent the University of Chicago at Gesling Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
