Rose Earns Academic All-Region Distinction


Nov. 1 – (DELAWARE, Ohio) – Carnegie Mellon University senior midfielder Amanda Rose (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) was named to the Academic All-District Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition. The official sponsor is ESPN the Magazine.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District II which is comprised of non-NCAA Division I Colleges in the states of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. In order to be nominated a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and hold a 3.2 GPA or better.

Rose has broken a few records during her career at Carnegie Mellon including the individual season record for assists in 2007. On Friday, October 26, Rose assisted on Kasey Stever’s (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) second goal in a 5-1 win over New York to give her 11 assists for the season. She has added to her all-time career record which now sits at 35.

Rose is a three-time All-UAA selection and also holds the school record for assists in a game with three.

Off the field, Rose has been on the Mellon College of Science High Honors Dean’s List for three semesters and receives a Carnegie Mellon Presidential Scholarship. She volunteer’s at Schenley Gardens and UPMC in the Rehabilitation Department and is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council.
