Stats

Oct. 8 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at the hands of University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Washington (Mo.) University on Sunday October 8 on the turf of Gesling Stadium. The Tartans drop under .500 to 4-5-1 on the season and 0-2 in UAA play. The Bears, ranked #14 in Division III, up their record to 10-2 and 2-0 in the UAA.

Freshman forward Caryn Rosoff scored all three goals for the Bears. She put Washington on the board in the 10th minute when her shot from 25 yards out found a seam between Tartan sophomore goalkeeper Christie Adams (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) and the left post. Rosoff scored again in the 28th minute off a pass from forward Marin McCarthy and the score stayed 2-0 heading into halftime.

Junior forward Kasey Stever (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) gave the Tartan faithful hope in the 54th minute when she made a long run and got enough on her shot for it to slowly roll into the goal to cut the deficit to one. This goal gives Stever a team-high four goals on the season.

Rosoff finished off her hat trick and gave the Bears an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when she collected a loose ball in front of the Carnegie Mellon goal and punched it in to make the score 3-1.

The Bears took 13 shots during the game, compared to Carnegie Mellon’s four. Adams finished with six saves in the loss.

The Tartans will play away from home next weekend when they face Brandeis University and New York University. The Tartans will play the Brandeis Judges on Friday, October 13 at 5:00 pm and then square off against the NYU Violets on Sunday, October 15 at 11:00 am.
