Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 in Season Opener

Sept. 2 - (ADA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s soccer team opened up their 2006 season with a 1-0 defeat to Otterbein College at the first day of the Ohio Northern Classic in Ada, Ohio.

The Cardinals senior Lauren Thompson scored the only goal on the day in the 24th minute. The goal was assisted by senior Kelli Peirano coming off of a corner kick.

Carnegie Mellon held a 3-2 advantage in the shot department for the game. Tartan sophomore goalie Christie Adams (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) finished the game with one save, while Otterbein’s senior keeper Annelise Erpenbeck tallied two.

The Tartans will resume play Sunday, September 3 when they play host team, Ohio Northern, in day two of the Classic. Start time is set for 1:30 p.m.
