Women’s Soccer Garners ECAC Championship Invite

Bracket

Nov. 7 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon's women's soccer team will look to repeat as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southern Region Champion, as they received the number three seed for the tournament to be held by top-seeded Penn State Behrend (14-2-4) on November 12-13. The Tartans defeated Johns Hopkins 1-0 on the road last season for the ECAC Southern Region Title.

Carnegie Mellon (10-4-2) will host sixth-seeded Washington & Jefferson (10-8-2) on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m in quarterfinal action. The Tartans defeated W & J 5-0 earlier in the season. Should the Tartans advance, they will meet second-seeded Ursinus College (13-4-2) on November 12 at 2:00 p.m. in Erie, Pa.

The Tartans have seen offensive contribution from nearly every player this season, as 15 athletes have been involved in scoring goals. Freshman midfielder Abby Coffin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) is the scoring leader with nine goals, as senior forward Hallie Dumont (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and junior midfielder Lisa Pascoli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) each have four goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Christie Adams (Kingsville, Md./Mercy) has a 6-4-0 record with six shutouts and a 0.69 goals against average. The back line of junior Megan Hughes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy), junior Andrea Maresca (Wycoff, N.J./Ramapo), senior Mollie Salpeter (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and sophomore Amanda Rose (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) have been a force allowing just eight goals all season and combining for 11 shutouts.

This marks the fifth consecutive ECAC Southern Region bid for the Tartans, who have won the past two championships.
